To be fair, Colleen, he *told* you back at the beginning of the chapter. I know you've been through a lot in the last 40 pages, but when the dwarf actually opens up about how he'll totally let you die to find that thing he lost, you should probably pay attention.
Arcanestomper 4th Jan 2022, 5:42 AM edit delete reply
I was just looking at the first few comics and I have to say I'm impressed how much you've improved. I mean the comic was always good, but there's a lot more details in these latest pages.
Rocktopus 5th Jan 2022, 9:56 PM edit delete reply
@Arcanestomper Thank you! I really love detail work and my patience in drawing it has always been one of my strengths.

I purposely tried to make a unique looking style when first created this comic, and it took a few chapters to solidify it.

Especially when the "thing" is actually a *person*.

That first panel... the way the male statue is holding the snake's head.. it looks awfully familiar!
hman 4th Jan 2022, 10:22 AM edit delete reply
You mean oiled-muscles-and-beauty-rules Goff Skullcracker barbarian from the recruitment office?
chris-tar 4th Jan 2022, 6:45 PM edit delete reply
Say what?
darkening 4th Jan 2022, 8:17 PM edit delete reply
They think you're referring to the barbarian dude that Colleen briefly attempted to join the group of back at the beginning that had a ridiculous list of rules for how people had to dress and comport themselves in his party, including wearing skimpy clothes, being a certain level of attractive, and having their muscles sufficiently oiled at all times.
chris-tar 4th Jan 2022, 8:29 PM edit delete reply
Oh! No. I wasn't.
I actually thought that Rocktopus stole a pose from my super old, barely known comic called "Brock Trueblood" where I have a statue in front of a mansion with a Greek or Roman looking swordsman holding the head of a serpent in an almost identical manner and pose.
I admit that this is most likely coincidence, and wishful thinking on my part that Mr. Neufeld would pay homage to my little old comic that way...
I guess I have a big ego!
Æþelwulf 5th Jan 2022, 4:00 AM edit delete reply
It's a pretty classic pose. I'm sure I've seen Orion, Hercules, and Conan, among others, rendered in exactly that pose. "Thing they're strangling" and "weapon in the other hand" may vary, but snakes are always a popular choice.
chris-tar 5th Jan 2022, 5:37 AM edit delete reply
I guess so!
Rocktopus 5th Jan 2022, 10:05 PM edit delete reply
I'm afraid that I haven't heard of "Brock Trueblood", so any similarities would be coincidental.

I waiting to see how this all works out. That pause I think was there way of lying. Plus I think that if there was so other way of finding that floor Randulf would of used it already. I have an idea that Randulf has already used divination for the floor he is looking for.
Sturzkampf 4th Jan 2022, 8:25 AM edit delete reply
I’m disappointed in Colleen’s reluctance to make a little sacrifice in order to save her trusty dwarven companion.
Microraptor 4th Jan 2022, 4:38 PM edit delete reply
You have a plan how to get your desired info and rescue Colleen, right Randulf!?

Lurker 4th Jan 2022, 5:32 PM edit delete reply
Nope, of course not. All he cares about is to get back to that floor, no matter what the cost. Colleen is just a nice-to-have, not an essential, as far as he's concerned.
Lurker 4th Jan 2022, 5:33 PM edit delete reply
I'm guessing the incoming Klopius army will interrupt the ritual... plotwise, I can't see Colleen dying this early in the story. Plot armor is resistant to Seerbellum knives. ;-)

Here's the part where I always get a little nervous that the next page will be different characters...
darkening 4th Jan 2022, 8:19 PM edit delete reply
Clearly the rogue and his party were the main characters all along and colleen was just a red herring! Her death will be the catalyst leading him to take charge of his party and whip them into shape!

Looking forward to Marble Gate: Adventures of Randulf & the Faun Delivery Guy

I was thinking of giving the Living Trinkets shop guy a chance to shine

Colleen will live on in our hearts... and our Darkest Dungeon vestal skins
Guest 5th Jan 2022, 5:59 AM edit delete reply
Someone did a DD Vestal skin of Colleen?
Rocktopus 5th Jan 2022, 9:51 PM edit delete reply
Yes, me!

Actually, Randulf is playing this the smartest way it could be played. If he rushed in aggressively he would never have gotten close to Colleen before being squashed by a pillar.

And the brains locking eye in panel 3 just screams "Let's play this rube!"
spacedog 5th Jan 2022, 7:08 AM edit delete reply
Tough to read those non-facial expressions, but I think those brain sacks are lying bastards.
Doomroar 7th Jan 2022, 5:23 PM edit delete reply
Well i guess that when he said he was gonna let her die if it means he can reach his goal, he meant it.
Guest viewer 11th Jan 2022, 10:26 AM edit delete reply
Long time reader, first time commenter. (Great comic, by the way. You put in so much detail, I'm surprised you can keep such a pace) I think the rescue may have to come from our Grecian cyclops friend and the ones with the torches. Or at least I'm hoping they'll be back.

Thank you so much! I try my best to keep the comic updating once a week, because I would like to finish this comic before I'm old!
