Abridged version of my post on Patreon:

I'm back!!!!

I'm finally home from my honeymoon and I'm fully settled and ready to get back to work! It's been a long six months, but finally, at last, everything is done! And that means I can truly once again focus on pages like I used to!

I know I've said a few times over the last half a year that I was reorganizing my schedule and would try to get back to weekly updates, but the truth turned out to be that that just wasn't going to happen until all this wedding stuff was finished. I'm done now, I'm happy, energized, and eager to work again. I'm still so in love with this comic and its characters, I could never leave it until its done.

So thank you all, you who have stayed patient with me and supported me through this trying year.

We're back to regular weekly updates, FINALLY!!!

Congratulations, Brett. Now that you're back from your honeymoon, don't forget to put effort into your marriage relationship (in addition to plugging away at the comic ;)
Rocktopus 9th Oct 2021, 4:18 PM edit delete reply
Thank you very much! I will make time for both!
Bookeater_otaku 4th Oct 2021, 3:56 AM edit delete reply
Glad to have you back.

That grey stuff look nasty. A lot of artists would make the poison for the dagger black or the classic green-ish color associated with poison but you went with something a bit different and gave it texture with how sticky and tick it is. Nice detail.

Another nice detail with the multiple shackles for the arms since some creatures have more than two or have strange placement on the body.

Great design with the statue who needed an extra right arm because of the original one isn't really one. But why would a statue need clothing? The monsters wanted pockets? Or is it something more sinister with the statues being peoples turned to stone.

You did good job on Colleen armor too. Those lines caught my eyes for some reason.
Doomroar 5th Oct 2021, 2:33 AM edit delete reply
Dammit it is actually people turned into statues, also the third arm has a different musuculature than the rest of the statues body and arms.

Seems like the third arm is from a male.
Rocktopus 9th Oct 2021, 4:20 PM edit delete reply
Thank you very much! They are mysterious creatures indeed.

Also, you need shackles for all those pesky extra arms and whippy tails!

Pssst, Colleen. I wouldn't trust it when it says it won't hurt no matter what you do.
Nutster 4th Oct 2021, 2:38 PM edit delete reply
From the point of view of the thing animating that statue, if she doesn't move, he/she/it won't get hurt, so painless. If Colleen moves around to much, it could get hurt and it has a very low pain tolerance so any risk of injury would be seen as very painful.
Rocktopus 9th Oct 2021, 4:23 PM edit delete reply
Well I wouldn't trust alien brain creatures to understand how pain works in a human body. But as long as the sacrifice in question holds still, that's what matters, right?
chris-tar 4th Oct 2021, 5:09 AM edit delete reply
I hope you had a great honeymoon, and thanks for sticking with the comic.
Great update!
I didn't even notice the 3rd arm until another commenter pointed it out... it was subliminal!
Rocktopus 9th Oct 2021, 4:25 PM edit delete reply
"Subliminal third limbs"
What kind of comic do you think this is?!

Lol jk. Thank you!

"Give" maybe not, but "take", well...
hman 4th Oct 2021, 8:28 AM edit delete reply
I find the extra arm placement interesting. Let's ignore the probable forth wall requirement from some parts of the (our) world, medieval combat style violence is ok, but no nudity please.

Why would a brain riding a nude statue hide the breasts? Remnant of nudity or some kind of protection? Maybe that's an important or critical part, like the placement of the magic making the statues move.
DocMesa 4th Oct 2021, 8:56 AM edit delete reply
Could also be the way the statue was carved and that the magic sees it was one large mass, instead of a body and arm.
Doomroar 5th Oct 2021, 2:32 AM edit delete reply
I will bet money that the original statue was just a woman holding her breast with one arm, but the extra arm was added by the brain from another statue and is floating using the purple magic that they use to actually articulate the stone limbs, which among other things you can see are not actually physically connected to each other.

You read it here first people.
hman 5th Oct 2021, 7:07 AM edit delete reply
Uhhh Durga goddess-like statue, with many arms?
You know, somebody will get punched sometime with those extra hands...
someone 5th Oct 2021, 9:48 PM edit delete reply
If you look more closely at it, the statue is broken at every joint. Their powers let them move the statues in a kind of Rayman fashion, they do not make stone supple so that it can bend, they break the stone instead. The chaste arm hiding he statue's breasts is technically part of the torso block, it was simpler to bring the arm from another statue that to try to chisel it away from the torso to make an arm with it.

The question is whether instead of a humanoid statue they could animate just a heap of rubble. Something without a real shape. Maybe they could, but they have other reasons to prefer keeping a humanoid shape. Perhaps a religious reason, since they're apparently all about sacrifice to their deity.
Rocktopus 9th Oct 2021, 4:35 PM edit delete reply
Statues are caved out of single slabs of stone, so the arm covering the chest of the statue is attached to the chest. Thus it would be easier just to use an arm from another statue, rather breaking the one on the chest off, putting a crater in the chest, then having to carve the broken off chunk into an actual arm.

Why they're using humanoid figures as bodies at all is a different question. I'll just say that they're not native to this world, so they are trying as best as they can understand to mimic it in order to dwell in it safely.

This is the great philosophical debate of our time!

At least they did not ask me to fill out a survey to see if I would be a suitable sacrifice for there ritual.

"Are you a virgin?"

"Not since senior prom."

"That is fine. Our god prefers sacrifices with experience."

"Why was my mother always right?"

"Yes and it will hurt they entire time you are dying."
Packless1 6th Oct 2021, 8:10 AM edit delete reply
...sorry, that's not a personal question...!
...well...but this IS a personal question...! ;-)

Rocktopus 9th Oct 2021, 5:15 PM edit delete reply
You'll have to use your imagination :)

Maybe I'll make like a book of dungeon monsters or something one day that will help you guess.

Rocktopus 9th Oct 2021, 5:17 PM edit delete reply
Well they are alien brain monsters, so I doubt they know what it feels like to have a knife in organs that they don't have

I'm waiting for Colleen to pull a Doomguy here and break free of her restraints before laying the smackdown on her captors. Maybe they've even been kind enough to leave her a shotgun lying around.

Side note, how do the races of Marblegate feel about gunpowder?
Rocktopus 10th Oct 2021, 1:52 PM edit delete reply
lol sadly, gunpowder doesn't exist in this world
