I thought this was supposed to be sneaky. Or is this as sneaky as dwarves get?
Crinos 23rd May 2021, 5:25 PM edit delete reply
Well I mean he's a Fighter in full plate mail, sneaking is not a card in his deck.

ha ha ha concur that this is how a dwarf would "sneak"

time to get your killin' on, Randy! thank goodness active camouflage juice makes it difficult for archers and other ranged arms cowards to harsh your rampage

The camouflage was to make the first attack sneaky. For the rest, it will make him harder to hit.

At first if what all sneaking and stealth then it was all burgeons and screaming.

Or maybe I need to cut back on the jet.

Let the Wacking begin!

That monster helmet is more sturdy than I thought. It's not even caved-in after a full blow from Randulph.

Beautiful page as always.

It is pretty caved in, it's just harder to see than I thought it would be once I rendered the final page.

so are those monoccular creature goblinoid, degraded fae, or what?
Rocktopus 24th May 2021, 6:26 PM edit delete reply

Klopius are naturally cave dwelling scavenger creatures that have adapted to living in dungeons and ruins with the rise of civilization. They are slightly less intelligent than most humans, but are able to learn the tools and technologies that they pillage and scavenge.

One down and at least 4 more to do, 2 of which are armed and armoured and 2 who aren't.

Can't tell if the best move is to charge the unarmed ones and take at least one out then deal with the others or to retreat up the stairs to prevent multiple combatants and flanking... but also for the high ground, which is an auto win, even if you're facing a jedi ;)
charlesw81 23rd May 2021, 11:48 PM edit delete reply
I guess another tactic might be to hide and cause them to search the dungeon area with their special knowledge then follow the sound of any signs they ran into the other monster. But I feel like he should have taken the potion after fleeing out of sight to pull that off.
NotRandulf 24th May 2021, 4:27 AM edit delete reply
Hmm, by striking high did he trick the monsters into looking for an invisible tall creature instead of an invisible short one?
bel0919 24th May 2021, 5:11 AM edit delete reply
don't think he's invisible

charlesw81 25th May 2021, 3:25 AM edit delete reply
Following those rules exactly, it seems he should be getting absolutely no advantages what-so-ever in this situation. His check for moving down the stairs would have been sneak, not hide and sure enough the monster heard him before he struck.

The only thing that makes sense is if he dashes back up the stairs and hides from them, but I still feel like he should have taken the potion AFTER dashing away so they wouldn't know to look for someone camouflaged.

I hate to be the one who points this out, but their chests look kind of feminine, if you know what I mean. And I know this isn't meant to be that sort of story.

Lore dump!

Most are neither male nor female. Four out of five Klopius are asexual drones that don't reproduce. One out of every five is hermaphroditic and spawns a hundred or so tiny eggs inside of its pouch (which is what the fat stomach they all have is) once a year without needing a partner. If there are no hermaphroditic klopius in a tribe, one of the asexual drones can change its body into one over the course of a month or so.

The "breasts" you are seeing are just their flabby chests. They use fat to store water and nutrients. The drones that do not use their stomach pouches for spawning eggs instead use it to store additional fat and water, which allows the drones to survive weeks without water and food.

Visually, they weren't really meant to look female, more like men with muscles and flabby dad bodies.

That's an impressive amount of lore!

In other words, prime candidates for the man-bra. :)
On that note, do marketing teams ever enter the dungeon?
charlesw81 26th May 2021, 11:02 PM edit delete reply
I'll confess I was stuck wondering the same. "Are those breasts or flappy chests?

Answer seems to be roughly both I guess, but as asexual drones that morph to hermaphroditic birthers, I'm guessing you could argue their all primarily female.
