It's literally a *hand* holding up an eyestalk and a brain in a bubble. Extremely weird, and very creative! :-D

I hope hes able to get his bludgeon back and I hope that the rope holds.

Depending on what's below, it might not matter how strong the rope is.

Randulf's shape and form does not appear to be conducive to flying... LOL he looks so funny with those tiny little feet!
Also, the brain parasite monster looks very hideous and somewhat disturbing to me... like something from a nightmare.
One particularly unnerving detail is how its appendages are tipped with finger nails! Eeew!!!

Heh heh, glad the intended effect was achieved with this creature.

I think one possible way Randulf could save himself, is by recapturing his axe in mid-air and then jabbing it into the side of one of the stone columns, then he could slowly pull himself up with the rope...
Another way, is if he fell and landed on a cliff ledge, where he discovers a body with some kind of tool or weapon that could help him back up, like a grappling hook/wench combo for instance....

A wench with a grappling hook ? In a chainmail bikini ? Now you're talking ;)

Nah, wearing a costume resembling a bat, with all sorts of fantastic toys hidden in his belt.

Great angle and views in this page. The panel where Randulph is falling got some great perspectives. Good use of lightning too.

The tension rise! What will happens to our heroes?! Will Randulph have to save Colleen while she is strapped to an altar wearing a metal bikini?

Thank you! I'm really trying to push my perspective drawings this chapter. It's been a good learning experience.

Even if Randulph can climb back up the rope he’ll still be on the wrong side of the drop.

Very true!

Or he'll stay swinging at the end of the rope in mid-air until he figures out how to either drop down or climb back up...
Given that most Dwarves are generally fairly stong, looks aside, he should be able to hand-over-hand back up the rope.
Nutster 7th Apr 2021, 12:51 AM edit delete reply
Nutster
As he climbs up the rope, he hears in his mind, "You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you."

and then the guest cameo of the week sticks their head out of a window for a chat ;)

Or maybe brain guy was actually trying to help them all along.

Could be. Hard to guess the motives of something with no face.

I dunno, you got a lot of expression out of one eyeball with no lid, very nice.
Guest 6th Apr 2021, 11:06 PM edit delete reply
Maybe the monster was just sent to get Colleen out of the way and Randulf is the real target of whatever is going on.

still kind of curious why this critter seems to be using the statue as a body.
Guest 10th Apr 2021, 12:01 PM edit delete reply
i fear what's going to happen to the young lady.
Varyon 13th Apr 2021, 7:46 PM edit delete reply
Ablative armor.
High ground.
Enchanted robes rubbing against exposed nerve and muscle is very unpleasant.
Mystical mumbo-jumbo involving human shapes being readily imbued with magic (like in Warbreaker).
The "statue" is actually the creature, and the hand-brain-eye thing is a fashion accessory, manipulated by telekinesis to trick adventurers into thinking it's the weak spot.
The creature uses the statue as portable concealment, like Solid Snake's box (note the faded Orange accents on the robe).

The possibilities are endless.

... that was supposed to be a response to the comment above this one (about why use the statue as a body), guess I clicked the wrong "reply" button...

And this, Ladies and Gentlemen, was how bungee jumping was invented. Of course, there was an improvement or two still ahead but he got the basics down pat.
