Those are the black, burning eyes of a tormented soul, a fanatic or a madman. Perhaps a bit all those.

CAN people even encounter the same levels more than once? If it's got more than 12,000 floors...

More on that in a future chapter.

You have reached Level 13, Warehouse 13 is at Level 7.

Poor Colleen, she's so nice. I wonder if she can tell that Randulf is hurting. I hope Randulf doesn't finally get what he wants and regrets losing Colleen potentially for it
Rocktopus 11th Jan 2021, 4:08 AM edit delete reply
She can tell, I'm sure. She's trying her best to help the only way a poor farm girl knows how.
p.t. 11th Jan 2021, 1:50 PM edit delete reply
Indeed, some harsh words from Randulf, ouch. She got some solid foundation apparently, but all that chiseling all the time ... I once met a priest who spoke some comforting words to me when my mother had died. Only later I realized how burned-out he had sounded himself, and then wished I had returned some thank-you or an attempt of a smile.

Congratulations for the Patreon goal. Maybe we could celebrate with a new voting incentive?

We finally know the goal of Randulph and he makes it pretty clear that he would sacrifice Colleen for a chance to reach it. That can drive people away but it's strange that Randulph didn't get to find the floor he is searching for in all those years. The Dungeon somehow know what you are looking for right? Like that time Colleen was wishing for a buckler or Randulph hangover made him wish for something to help with the headache... wait... is this why he never found the floor in 30 something years again? His reckless drinking made him wish for something else at the forefront of his mind?

It's good that they opened up to each other a little even if it make things awkward between them.

And now we will get to see more of the Dungeon floor than this little dusty corner they are stuck in since the beginning of the chapter! Yay!

Honestly I think I'm just going to get rid of the voting button all together, it doesn't really seem to be doing much for getting new readers to the site and I don't really like holding art in voting incentive limbo when I could just release it to the public on my social media pages.

If you would like to see more art from Marble Gate, check out my social media pages in the author's notes!

other artits say "if you prop me up to position #(something better than current week) then i'll release a new voting incentive".
Bookeater_otaku 11th Jan 2021, 6:51 AM edit delete reply
Well, you are getting in popularity. Not you are in the top 100 within 10 days of when they renew the votes counts. That's better than before and you are getting certainly getting some more fan as the comic will develop. Rome wasn't built in a day and those kind of things.

Don't give up, every bit of publicity helps.
Sam_Neph 12th Jan 2021, 2:38 AM edit delete reply
I mean, I get it, buuut I would never have found you without seeing you on Top Webcomic. It might not get you a lot of people, since you are a slow updater, but it gets you a few. Besides, you don't need new art incentives. I follow a few that have had the same incentive for nearly 10 years (please don't do that, you can post it as "incentive" and publicly on your newgrounds and we will still cheer).
Bookeater_otaku 12th Jan 2021, 2:21 PM edit delete reply
Same for me, I wouldn't have found you story if it wasn't for Topwebcomic
nightshade01 19th Jan 2021, 4:04 PM edit delete reply
Fair, but I found this comic as I was idly scrolling through the list one day. Voting may not bring in tons of new readers, but it brings in some. Or... one, at the very least.
Lurker 22nd Jan 2021, 1:22 AM edit delete reply
I also found this comic via topwebcomics.

And honestly, I'd vote even if there was no vote incentive.

I love the developments here.
It starts out looking like a simple dungeon crawl,
but that's just the first level.
As you descend into lower levels
things get more and more interesting.
And your art is great!
Rocktopus 11th Jan 2021, 4:02 AM edit delete reply
That was the idea! Thank you!
chris-tar 11th Jan 2021, 3:50 AM edit delete reply
Wow. This plot development is going to make Marblegate one of the truly epic independent comics of our time. It sets things up for a lot tragedy and heart ache, but also epic revenge. There will be plenty of adventures and opportunities for Colleen and Randulf to develop their personalities and bond closer together.
In the end, I predict that the opposite will happen, Randulf will sacrifice himself for Colleen, and it will be a major tear jerker. Some genius story telling right here Mr. Neufled.
Rocktopus 11th Jan 2021, 4:01 AM edit delete reply
Aw, thank you very much! But you give me too much credit. I'm happy you are enjoying the story though.

naa..Randulf cannot die, he's the only decent tank
padanew 11th Jan 2021, 5:49 AM edit delete reply
Maybe he's looking for the love of his life back on that floor. Who knows?
Guest 11th Jan 2021, 9:00 AM edit delete reply
Randulf had better learn to care about Colleen. He might not survive to find the floor he wants without her.
Averest 11th Jan 2021, 11:17 AM edit delete reply
So, in short, the reckless tank thinks the healer is expendable in the attainment of their goals? Where have I seen this before?
BornOnTheNinth 12th Jan 2021, 6:53 AM edit delete reply
It's going to be the remains of his last team, whose death he blames on himself.
NotTed 12th Jan 2021, 7:45 AM edit delete reply
I like to think that the fact that Randulf emphasizing that fact he cares more about that floor than Colleen is his way of warning Colleen away. So that he won't have one more regret on his shoulders if he had to make such a decision between the floor and Colleen. He's still gruff about it but it does show that he cares for Colleen, otherwise why even bother mentioning said floor in the first place.
Quieteyes 12th Jan 2021, 9:22 PM edit delete reply
Poor Randulf. He's lost that lovin' feeling.
