Hey guys, just a heads up. Next week's page (and possibly the week after that) is going to be delayed by a few days due to some technical issues on my end. Thanks for your patience, we should be back to normal by July.

Apparently "Amicus" is elf for "Pucker up!"

Ozzi is /hilariously/ surprised by how quickly that escalated. But Stella kissed him earlier at the drop of a hat. And the wizard mentioned that the feyfolk had "different" ideas about personal space. I guess this is just how they say "hi".

Your question makes me think of the first encounter between Morpheus and Neil Anderson (Neo) in the Matrix. I get the feeling the results will be different here.
Naudran 13th Jun 2020, 4:38 PM edit delete reply
You mean Thomas Anderson of course. :)

"You have a choice to make, Ozzie. After this, there is no going back.

If you cut the blue wire, the story ends. You'll wake up in your bed and you can believe whatever you want to believe.

Or, you can cut the red wire, and you stay in Camp Wayatl, and I'll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

What's it to be, Amicus?"

Nothing wrong with sex between the right man and the right woman, and it looks like Ozzie has found the right man and the right woman to have sex between.

Was Sodom and Gomorrah a warning? Or a set of instructions for destroying your enemies completely? Especially after using assassins to kill your enemies' core?

If one is to survive such an attack and exploit, could one action be to completely annihilate the assassins?
Oldarmourer 15th Jun 2020, 5:08 PM edit delete reply
Oldarmourer
Being that many times in Scripture men kiss men for various reasons, that act in itself is not applicable to Sodom or Gommorah

Ok, pretty sure that "nua amicus" is "new friend" ...

...and internet says that amicus is latin for friend and nua is irish for new? except its the irish version of the latin neo before native words, but I'm not sure what it means by 'before native words'

anyway, point is, humans totally learned language from the elves in this world.

(I'm also going to put 75% odds on Rocktopus being either Irish, Spanish(catalan) or Icelandic, based solely on the fact that I'm american and have never heard the root 'nua' before.)
Blackwing 16th Jun 2020, 9:20 PM edit delete reply
Sorry to nitpick, but I'm pretty sure "neo" is Greek and the Latin word for "new" is "nova".

As for Rocktopus, his Deviantart account lists him as Brett Neufeld, which is a German surname. That being said, I wouldn't surprised if he had Irish heritage as well considering his apparent interest in Irish culture.

I'm torn between assuming this is just the generic way faerie folk say "thank you" and nothing more, and assuming there is absolutely some magical jiggery-pokery going on with all this smooching.

Well that's one way to draw out all the homophobes in your audience =P

I hope Ozzy doesn't misconstrue this simple cultural difference and get himself into trouble...

Kissing someone on the mouth unprovoked, suddenly and forcefully is extremely different from fully consensual, respectful, mutually interested, careful kissing. And again, this is on the mouth, not on the cheeks. As if sexually assaulting others is the norm among them, whatever gender. And if they are this forceful with grown adults... and Ozzy is an adult, but he is not an old adult, nor physically powerfully built, and he is among strangers.

They clearly do not limit their internal traditions to strangers, nor to young adults. They have no care.

And did you not notice the calls for physical violence against the sexual assault by the satyr when that page was posted? A satyr is a creature that can be excused, but this is a wood elf.

And how in the world can you call it homophobic when this has nothing whatsoever to do with consensual relationships? What is wrong with you? Or is it "homophobic" in your opinion if one is against sexual assault or non-consensual actions? If so, is "homophobia" suddenly a good thing? Seriously, what is wrong with you?
That Dave Guy 26th Jun 2020, 12:07 AM edit delete reply
I didn't say it was ok for the guy to kiss him without consent. That's a completely separate issue, which you'll have to take up with the author. I said not one word about it.
Guest 26th Jun 2020, 2:20 PM edit delete reply
You are trying fully intentionally to distract from what you wrote and accused others of. You wrote:

"Well that's one way to draw out all the homophobes in your audience =P"

You accused widely here, portraying it as "homophobia", despite the obvious kissing someone on the mouth unprovoked, suddenly and forcefully without any consent. And now you try to distract from that and claim innocence of what you wrote just before, and claiming it is "completely separate issue", while you know 100% well that it is not at all a "separate issue". People correctly took great offense to all this, and you portray it as "homophobia" with a wide brush.

Will you pull back your statement before broadly attacking those that correctly took offense at the wretchedness as "homophobes"? Or will you continue to lie fully intentionally and distract and manipulate and similar tactics? Or some pretended combination thereof? Etc.? Are you merely writing that response to seek to not be as obvious as well as distract? Again, what is wrong with you?

Well, that may be a culture shock, at least he doesn't look like he was really aware of that custom.
I'm happy it's not a custom over here, it doesn't seem sanitary even less so than shaking the dirty hands of others.
