Outside of the dungeon is the best place for the dungeon to try and kill someone, nobody expects it!

My immediate thought was 'is he goning to join the party?'
If not, is he going to be a regular character outside of Marblegate, as a vendor or something?
He's only said 2 lines and already I think this is going to be a great character.

On the subject of new party members, we may be seeing Trysh [ ]female halfling? spellcaster of doubtful sanity. Of course, characters often get written out of or into the story, so she may have been replaced by the satyr. But she might also show up sooner or later.

Marblegate is not that kind of webcomic, unfortunately.

If it was, I'd be making about 3 times as much on my patreon right now.

Man with horns and goat legs + cleric of a religion very similar to Christianity.

Nope, no possibilities for misunderstandings here, none at all.

I'm jealous because I bet if I was a Satyr I could get a job as an exhibit in either a zoo, circus, or a carnival and never have to work at McDonald's again.
Yes what a life that would be.... so great.... not...

This is one of those interesting cases where it's comic art, so it's a little abstract and what we see is just edged brown to indicate fur all over his lower half. But in the presumably full color, 3D, realistic world that Colleen lives in, one has to ask... is a coating of fur really going to be enough to hide his genitalia? Is Colleen's surprise "only" at the fact that this is a rare non-human satyr, or is she also uncomfortably aware that there's no cloth barrier for what's surely swinging in the wind down there?

I guess we'll have to carefully observe where her eyes are directed (or not directed) in the next comic.
David Argall 19th Oct 2019, 6:03 AM edit delete reply
There are at least 2 explanations for why our newcomer seems "unmanned" [besides the actual one of our artwork being censored]. For many species, the male tool is stored internally until needed. Snakes are an obvious case that would not want to be abusing sensitive flesh by being on it all the time. In other species, including apes, the size of the equipment varies with how often it is needed. With the gorilla, the big man keeps all the other males away and so he doesn't need a big set. But the bonopo[?] lives in groups including lots of males and so he has to take every chance he gets or some other male will, which means he has a massive set. Of course, given the reputation satyrs have, our lad should likely be lugging around quite a pair, but maybe he is of a type that isn't so interested in the ladies.

Curious focus, especially given how "family-friendly" the comic otherwise seems.
Guest 19th Oct 2019, 1:25 PM edit delete reply
Though, I might well be wrong about how 'family-friendly' the comic really is, given the violence and blood previously. Not gore, though. Maybe young adult and later?
Rocktopus 19th Oct 2019, 3:38 PM edit delete reply
It's actually a giant tuft of fur at the front, like a loin cloth, that's covering him up.

Here's a super old concept art of him from I think 2013

Being angry at someone is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.
Guest 19th Oct 2019, 6:53 AM edit delete reply
Eh... that sounds a lot like bending over for any evil done to you or others. If everyone looks the other way when evil is done, evil will flourish and everything can end up falling apart, possibly with very poor chances of recovery. So, looking the other way when evil is done can be extremely evil and wrong in itself. Besides... if someone innocent and non-evil is the victim, how can it be right or acceptable in any way to look the other way?

Of course, anger in itself is not sufficient, action, preparations, systems, etc. are very much also necessary. But anger is not as such a bad or evil thing, it can very much be extremely good and 100% necessary.
Matt 19th Oct 2019, 9:28 PM edit delete reply
Let me put it this way. If somebody kicks you, really really hard, it's natural to be angry. It's useful to be angry. That person did terrible thing to you. So you kick them back. Or kill them. Thing is settled, either way.
But being angry at somebody years down the road? Like being in your 80's and still being angry at that guy who stole your car back in kindergarden? That's no way to live.

Saying like the one you commented to, or those all speeches about forgeting your enemy aren't here to say you shouldn't stand against evil. But that you should n't let your anger cloud your thinking, or define your life.

Guest 20th Oct 2019, 8:02 AM edit delete reply
To Matt:

padanew portrayed anger at being bad in general. I did not portray anger as always being good, reasonable or right. The statement he came with, as well as "speeches about forgetting one's enemies" did and do exactly encourage others not to take a stand against evil. A reasonable and right response might well be forgiveness, or dialogue, or wrath, or more complicated actions, responses, etc. - it depends on the case.

And if someone rapes and murders your family brutally, maybe just for the sake of it, and that person is not brought to justice, it indicates that something is horribly wrong, evil and unsustainable, possibly overall, and thus you and also those around you and in society in general have a great responsibility to fight against this evil, even if it takes not just their whole lives, but later generations. And that does not mean that they are defined by anger or wrath, but that they seek genuine goodness. Fighting can take many forms of course.

One cannot take survival or society for granted. And thus it follows that everyone has a responsibility. Though, there may of course be those that seek to abuse such a responsibility, which is (possibly extremely) evil in and of itself.

Also, killing someone for kicking you? Strawman? Though self-defense is definitely reasonable.

Also, a little bit of lore on this subject, for those interested:
There are no half-races in this world (half-elf, half-orc) ect

The fantasy races in this world aren't able to interbreed with one another. Elves, dwarves, halflings, and humans, while obviously physically and emotionally capable of being intimate, can't actually produce offspring with one another. It's why their civilizations tend to be more homogeneous in culture.
Bookeater_otaku 20th Oct 2019, 3:47 PM edit delete reply
That's actually interesting. It limit some possibility for creatures but at the same time it create a certain... It's us vs them, no love will ever achieve anything. Like it's a great factors for division of the races.
Guest 20th Oct 2019, 4:55 PM edit delete reply
I wonder whether some or all of the different species (or what they should be called) tend to live in different biomes, such that they do not compete or compete as much with others. Like elves in great and ancient forests, and dwarves underground and in mountains.

In nature, despite the lack of sentience, there can still be cooperation between different species. One note-worthy example is that of cleaner fish: , where some species of fish remove dead skin, parasites and the like from other fish species.
