Sorry, this page is kinda wordy. In retrospect, I should have split it up into 2 different pages. Ah well. Only 2 pages left in the chapter!

And it seems the noble cast might be setting their eyes on this magical girl from the countryside...

Arguably a more onerous tasking than any Noble could come up with, poor kid...
At least we've seen what happens later on :)

I'd like to say it works out, but that would imply having go into Marblegate is a good thing ;)

An elegant solution to a complex situation, and it explains, in part, why she's gone to Marblegate. Being part of the church keeps her out of the hands of the nobles, but it doesn't pay the taxes.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this journey continues!

I glad she is starting to make her own decisions. I also feel very bad about being right about next years taxes. I am also guessing that with the two boxes of money that she was able to fix that helmet with no problems.

Majority of readers
*Assumes massive complications with that new noble in 6-26*
Writer
*Skips over it completely, with the repairs going without a hitch.*
I love it when readers get paranoid on the wrong details, like back in 5-18 with the mushroom Colleen was about to step on.

lol I'm not even sure how to respond half the time, but I suppose them seeing danger everywhere is my fault for making a comic about dungeons.

To their credit though, it would seem the fixing of his helmet may have also been a test of her abilities, to see what she's capable of...

Yeah, our prediction there was completely off :D . It's just, a very expensive/irreplaceable item can be a very high risk item to deal with, and care must be taken with it.

On that topic: You do have some sort of backup of Marblegate and your other art, right? I have seen other webcomics and other art being lost due to various kinds of events, and data being lost in general can end up being really (, really) bitter.

Wait for the plot twist in two years' time, when the Evil Cursed Helmet suddenly makes an unwelcome appearance!

Small Brain - Cast miracles, collect donations to pay taxes.
Big Brain - Join the church, get educated, earn more for taxes.
Stellar brain - Join the Church, go to Marblegate, and adventure for gold to pay taxes.
Galaxy Brian- Go to Marblegate, rack up xp, become able to cast far more powerful miracles for way bigger donations to pay taxes.
Cosmic Brain - Go to Marblegate, rack up xp, return and put down traitorous would-be usurper Duke Frankfurt with a well-placed Flamestrike so he never taxes again.

All this and we still don't see where her "buddy" the rogue that was supposed to partner for her on adventuring comes into this.

lol

There's more that happened before she arrived at Marblegate, but we will get into that at a later chapter :)
Bookeater_otaku 7th Sep 2019, 1:41 AM edit delete reply
Now she join the church. Now she have to choose what Order thought. She may gain an education but we know she also got training so it will be one that fight in some manner.

But now that she joining the church, I am guessing the marriage idea is going down the drain. Or maybe her religion allow that?

And she still have to meet Ozzy. Another flash back for another chapter. But please continue fleshing out this universe like this. It make the story much more interesting.

In this world, priests and priestess are allowed to get married and have families. Monks and nuns are not, but priests and priestess are.

I've really enjoyed the depth of sweet Colleen's backstory. She's more then just a cardboard cutout nervous cleric. She's a young woman making choices and discovering a power within herself. Looking forward to her future journey.

As a loyal citizen, shouldn't Ms Colleen be joining the Duke's army, to heal his brave warriors protecting the innocent from the ravening hordes of the Evil Usurper? :-)

Getting his throne back may be his White Whale, but I think even he's smart enough to know that if he breaks church law and indentures the service of a priestess with the gift; there's going to be some very upset Arch Bishops in the Holy City...

Brett: First off, no it's not "Too wordy", things like that happen sometimes with conversations. I think you did a great job of filling in backstory without compromising art and graphics. The next two pages will be interesting, a lot of questions still remain.
Secondly: Hows the weather up there right now? I've always wanted to head north, cross the border, and do some fly fishing up in Canada.
Keep up the great work. Many of us are thoroughly enjoying this story.

Collen's pretty focused on the Highfather's gift and plan for her at the moment, but in the main timeline she calls on Rachel (who I think is an Archangel) for her spells, so I'm looking forward to a second visitation or revelation to connect them.

Similar to real-life Catholicism, the Solan Church (aka, the Church of the Highfather) has many Saints and Patrons. While the church has only 1 god, it's worshipers often pray to the saints to intercede on their behalf.

St Rachael happens to be the patroness saint of the warrior nuns, who colleen trained with for six weeks before entering Marblegate. More on that in a future chapter :)
Matthew 12th Sep 2019, 4:37 PM edit delete reply
Six weeks, really? That's it? That seems like not a lot of time to learn how to fight.
