As an evil GM I'd tell my players now the just lost another turn of action for bickering. Seriously do they ever learn?

Gricks: (see also for 3rd edition D&D,, and for 5th edition D&D, They are resistant to attacks with mundane weapons. Fire, magic and magical weapons hurt them as normal.

That means that the alchemist might have the best chance of taking them out, but the party is completely surrounded now and out in the open.

Damn it, now I just want to see the alchemist go nuts with burning them all. Maybe even go out in a glorious inferno. Hopefully getting more of the worms than of his allies.

Is that expensive sword in the entrance of the burrow magical??
yetanotherguy 28th Jun 2018, 5:20 PM edit delete reply
As Bookeater noticed in page 4-22, the sword ought to have been rusted, magic sword all but confirmed:

Bookeater: "Also, the sword should be incredibly rusted from all the humidity and lack of care. IF it as been sitting there as long as the skeletton in the mound seem."

Rocktopus: "It might be magic ;)"

But will they realize in time that the sword is magical, and that it will be really useful against the resistant hides of the Gricks? Or is it maybe already too late for them to get over to the sword and use it?
Worstcase 28th Jun 2018, 6:19 PM edit delete reply
Well two Gricks are at the cave openening between them and Ozzi right now which also means they are between them and the magical sword.
yetanotherguy 28th Jun 2018, 8:12 PM edit delete reply
Hmmmm... if only the party knew, then they could at this point in time rush forward. Some of them ought to make it, including at least one of the melee warriors. Then that warrior could grab the sword and go to town on the worms.

*If* the party knew, of course.

But they would likely still suffer losses, if not from rushing forward, then from any non-melee characters that do not make it inside the burrow and are left behind.

I think we might see some of them panicking, at least after someone goes down or even dies, and then try to flee, either to succeed or to get caught by one of the worms. And if successful, leaving the others behind. Though for the archer, it might actually help the party if he fled, because he cannot contribute much in this battle as far as I can tell and not having to protect him would help them. The alchemist fleeing, on the other hand... that would be bad.

Of course, fleeing might be more dangerous than fighting.

Who has the portal scroll?

Those buggers are fast! But the one that grabbed Ozzi made a big mistake going into the cave; now it's cornered and can't run from Ox anymore!

They really want that cursed sword don't they.
